Where do I find my tax identification number?

Summary

Every country uses its own tax identification number (Tax ID / TIN / NIF / etc.). The name, format, where to find it, and an official source link differ by country.

Tax identification numbers are used by authorities to uniquely identify individuals for tax purposes. Depending on your country of residence, this number may appear under a different name (for example Steuer-ID in Germany, NIF in Spain, Codice Fiscale in Italy, or AHV-Nummer in Switzerland).

It is important that you provide the correct number for your country of tax residence when using Cryptonow, so that reporting obligations and tax reports can be processed correctly.

To make it easier, we’ve prepared a complete country overview for the European Union and Switzerland. For each country, you will find:

  • the local name of the tax number

  • its format and typical examples

  • where you can usually find it (documents, National ID cards, portals)

  • a link to the official tax authority website
